The Winter Gathering in Longton, Stoke-on-Trent on 14 December is a free festive event set to amaze and delight local people and visitors with music, performers, storytelling, fire shows and a special appearance from a real camel. It will take place across Longton town centre from 11am – 5pm.
Organiser Urban Wilderness is now on the look-out for enthusiastic volunteers to be at the heart of the action and help make this a magical day for families.
There’ll be a range of roles from helping to set up and decorate, supporting the performances and handing out information. Full training will be given ahead of the day. Food and refreshments will be provided on the day and any travel expenses covered.
Isla Telford, co-director at Urban Wilderness said:
“Event volunteering is a lot of fun, a way to meet people and gain experience. At this time of year it’s also a great way to share goodwill and joy in the community for that feelgood factor.
“We’re aiming for a festive extravaganza with an Arabian Nights theme, bringing a range of top-class performances to Longton. We’re looking for friendly and welcoming people to make the day extra special for everyone.
“We’ve had very positive feedback from our volunteers at previous events such as the Pig Walk carnival and have seen the benefits for volunteers and the community.”
If people are interested in playing a part of this winter spectacular, they can register for the volunteer training, 7 December 10am – 12pm, on Eventbrite and be available for the full day on 14 December.
